The ELB Newborn Experience: What to Expect from Your Session.
Welcoming a new baby into your world is one of life’s most extraordinary moments, and capturing those fiirst days should feel just as special. At ELB Photography, I’ve designed every step of the newborn portrait experience to be calm, seamless, and meaningful from start to fiinish.
Whether you’ve just booked your session or you’re curious about what to expect, this guide will walk you through the process - from your fiirst visit to your fiinished artwork.
Arrival at the Studio
When you arrive at my Castle Hill studio, you’ll be welcomed into a quiet, comfortable space designed with new parents in mind. The studio is kept warm for your baby’s comfort, and there’s plenty of time for feeding, changing, and settling before we begin.
You don’t need to bring much, just your baby, a few essentials, and yourselves. I provide wraps, blankets, and accessories in timeless neutral tones, so you can relax knowing everything is taken care of.
(Tip: dress in neutral, soft colours that complement the studio’s timeless aesthetic)
During the Session
Each session is gentle, baby-led, and completely unrushed. I’ll guide you through a relaxed flow of poses and setups, some featuring your baby alone, and others including parents or siblings.
Because I’ve photographed hundreds of newborns, I’m skilled at reading cues, soothing quickly, and moving between setups seamlessly. This allows me to create a beautiful variety of images, all without the need for long, tiring hours.
Sessions typically run for around 90 minutes to two hours, though we always follow your baby’s pace. You can sit back with a coffee and simply enjoy the experience.
After Your Session: The Artwork Appointment
A few days after your session, we’ll schedule your personal artwork and viewing appointment - either in-studio or virtually. This is one of my favourite parts of the process!
Together, we’ll view your finished gallery and I’ll help you decide how you’d love to display your portraits. From fine art albums and boxed prints to custom frames and gallery walls, every piece is handcrafted to suit your home and style.
Your $500 artwork credit (if you’ve received one through a promotion) can be used toward any of these beautiful pieces. There’s never any pressure, just guidance to help you create something truly special.
Digital Galleries & Delivery
Once you’ve chosen your collection, you’ll receive your digital images via a private online gallery, beautifully edited and ready to download, share, and print.
Your artwork pieces are then carefully ordered, handcrafted, and quality-checked before being ready for collection or delivery. Most clients receive their artwork within 4–6 weeks.
Each print and frame is designed to last for generations, a tangible reminder of how small your baby once was.
Final Thoughts
From the moment you book to the day you hold your finished portraits in your hands, my goal is to make this experience effortless, enjoyable, and deeply meaningful.
Because these aren’t just photos, they’re your family’s fiirst memories together, preserved in a way that feels timeless and true.
Book Your Newborn Session
If your little one is on the way, now is the perfect time to plan your newborn portraits. Sessions are best scheduled while your baby is under two weeks olf to capture those dreamy, sleepy poses, but rest assured, beautiful images are possible at any age.
